Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli, from the office of Elizabeth Martin.
Healing Through Qi
Healing through acupuncture is made possible because there are channels of energy, called Qi (“chee”), that flow like a network of rivers all throughout our bodies. Qi gives our bodies life, directs the flow of blood and nutrients, keeps us warm, and helps ward off disease. When the Qi is free-flowing and abundant, one is healthy and vibrant. When Qi is deficient, or it’s flow is blocked, there are symptoms and disease. At this point, acupuncture and medicine can be used to restore health.
When an acupuncturist gives a diagnosis, they look at all the symptoms and figure out what organs or functions are out of balance. This happens in common ways called patterns. Once an acupuncturist knows your pattern of illness, they can choose appropriate points on your channels of Qi to restore balance. Because Qi is very subtle energy, it can take several treatments to restore. Depending on the severity and amount of time the symptoms have been present, it can take from 6-12 weeks to see lasting improvements. It helps to think of it as exercise, only instead of building muscle, or losing fat, you are building and directing Qi.
On the plus side with acupuncture, it is easier to prevent disease than treat it. Working with these same subtle energies, an acupuncturist can help keep you in balance, and promote longevity using monthly treatments. In the ancient book the Ling Shu, compiled around 100 BCE, it states, “the inferior physician treats that which is already ill, the superior physician treats that which is not yet ill.” Keep that in mind when you are considering treatment.

Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
Group Meditation
Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:
- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
