5 Elements for Spring – General Guidelines
With the weather warming up, and Spring being officially here, we once again want to take the time to remind you, how living in tune with the seasons, is a wonderful plan for long term health. Right now that comes down to proper activity and nutrition.
As the thermometer starts creeping upward, you may feel the yang energy within you begin to stir, just as it is stirring within the earth, and the first buds and sprouts of spring begin to push forth. You may feel yourself naturally being drawn outside, as the weather becomes more favorable for outside activities. Trust that urge, as spring is a time that calls us back outdoors. Just as bears and chipmunks exit their dens, after their long winter slumber, so too are we drawn from the comfort of our homes, towards the comforts of spring. The winds of spring also bring rapid changes to the weather. Days will quickly shift from cool to warm and back again, be sure to dress in layers for warmth. However, by all means, spring is about outward movement, so get outside, and get moving.
Foods that we chose to eat at this time should mimic the energies of the season. Foods that sprout above ground are a staple while warming foods such as ginger, fennel, and basil; are a nice supplement in early spring when there is still some lingering cold in the air. As the weather warms, feel free to add more cooling nourishment; such as celery, mulberry, strawberries, and mint. Spring is a great time for detoxifying the body with appropriate foods. This means supporting liver function especially. Sour foods, such as apple cider vinegar, will do just that. (Just go easy on the sour if you’re having constipation or joint pain).

Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:
- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
