Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli, from the office of Elizabeth Martin.
The Importance Of Being Grounded, and Centered
We started talking about the earth element; and its grounding, or stabilizing energy that happens between seasons. This is especially so when moving from Summer to Fall. Nourishing the earth element at these times does much to ease this transition. Changes can be especially difficult when moving from Summer to Fall. The predominant emotion of Summer is a joy. For Fall, its sadness and sorrow. The expansive, abundant Yang energy of Summer, begins to revert inward and become more Yin. This translates into a feeling of loss, and sorrow. However, there is happiness in Fall as well. It is a time to reap the harvest of what we have sown, by the work we have done in Spring and Summer. This culminates with the feast of Thanksgiving; coming before completion of the journey inward, into the dormant and restful season of Winter.
Returning to the stability of Earth between seasons does much to ease these transitions. If one is not centered, this transition can lead to an imbalance of emotions. A gradual transition, allows one to feel these emotions in a more natural and healthy way.
In the past, we’ve talked about how diet can be used to strengthen the Earth energy within the body. One can also do exercises, meditation, and traditional activities. Many seasonal traditions from all walks of life are designed to do exactly that; to tune in to the changing seasons, and prepare you for what comes next. One of the best ways to be grounded is walking barefoot on the grass. Take advantage of these last days of summer to drink in some quality time connecting your feet to the earth. Another practice you can do is self-massage in the form of acupressure. In the next email, I will explain two points that when massaged regularly, greatly reinforce the vibrations of earth energy within one’s body.

- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
