Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli.
Summer Begins!
With the start of summer, we again see an energetic shift into a new phase. The wood element of spring, bursting forth, now becomes fuel for the fire energy of summer. This means a change in the activities you do, and the foods you eat, to bring about harmony with the warmest time of year.
The fire element of summer is the most outward expression of energy. We say, “the utmost yang.” (Remember, yang is the outward, expansive energy, while yin is the more quiet, inward energy.) It goes without saying what are typical summer activities. Take advantage of more sunshine and warm weather, with more activity, especially outdoors. Finding ways to keep cool, and avoid too much heat and sun. These are things most of us like to do anyway, but you can do so with extra enthusiasm, knowing you are also helping to take care of your health! This is the peak of yang energy before reverting back to yin in the fall. Live it up!
Next month we will delve deeper into some self-care tips for summer. The basic rule though is; enjoy it, but not overdo it. Find ways to stay cool. But take caution regarding sun exposure. Beware of that excess fire energy!
