Acupuncture for Sleeping Problems
Do you have trouble falling asleep at night? Do you wake often, unable to fall back asleep? When you do sleep, do you wake feeling still fatigued, as if the sleep was not at all restful? These sleep problems affect many people, and can sometimes be quite serious. Lack of sleep can have direct negative effects on your health. Not to mention the difficulties brought on by constant exhaustion. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to improve your sleep.
First, follow a set sleep schedule the best you can. Also, do not have too much food, caffeine, or exercise too close to your bedtime. Try to schedule a time for relaxation before bed.
Medication can be effective, but is quite strong and has risks of negative side-effects. However, in severe cases, it may be necessary. Before you do that though, you could try some more gentle, natural remedies. Chamomile tea is a well-known sleep aid. Taking krill-oil close to bedtime will give you more omega-3’s, and help to relax. My favorite is some cherry concentrate, mixed with water. It will boost your bodies natural melatonin, and also reduces inflammation.
Lastly, a regular acupuncture regimen can help adjust your sleep-clock. Getting you out of “stress” mode, and into “rest” mode. It takes a few treatments to see results, but the side-effects are minimal, and any risks are far outweighed by potential rewards.
