Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli.

Tapping for Relaxation

Tapping is a simple exercise you can do for yourself, most any time, that helps relieve stress and anxiety.  It can be done on acupuncture points, or anywhere you feel you’re holding tension. The face and head are very effective areas.  Simply use your fingertips to tap areas along the face, at the jaw-line, on top of your head, and down the back of your neck. Just a few minutes is all it takes.  You should feel some effect immediately.

If you like that, you can do other body areas as well.  Try some karate chops on your neck and shoulders. Pat down the outside of your arms and legs, then up along their inner portions.  Pat, and rub circles on your lower back and kidney areas. With a loose fist, pat up and down the centerline of your front torso, and rub your abdomen in a clockwise motion.

These simple exercises help break-up stagnation in our energy flow. They also help with the circulation of blood and lymph, which boosts our ability to self-heal.  Tapping exercises are simple, but fast-acting. Just remember to do them the next time you have a few minutes to spare.
