The Opioid Crisis:
Much is being said about the opioid crisis that has been plaguing the nation in recent years. Opioid medications are used effectively to treat many types of pain. However, they often come with unwanted side-effects, and long-term use can lead to chemical dependency, or addiction. When using opioids to treat pain, it should always be done under a doctor’s supervision. Inappropriate usage could lead to over-dose, or even death.
Because of these risks, many people are seeking out alternative treatments for pain. Thankfully, there are other options out there. From mild supplements like Turmeric and Arnica, to alternative medicines like chiropracty and acupuncture.
At Hands On Acupuncture and Massage Therapy PC, we offer acupuncture and massage as direct interventions to help our clients manage pain, with minimal risk and side-effects. We also have herbal formulas that can help with pain. It is also worth mentioning, that acupuncture can also help those suffering from addiction,. It’s unfortunate, that many state funded medicare and medicaid programs, do not currently cover for these treatments. However, it is a good sign that the majority of VA and military services offer acupuncture as a treatment option for veterans. So,e Major Medical Insurance companies cover acupuncture. If you or a loved one is in pain, and is concerned about the dangers of opioids, or is suffering from opioid addiction, then please keep in mind these other options for treatment.
