Make Your New Year’s Resolutions Stick, with These Tips
It’s not enough to just have a New Year’s Resolution, you also need a plan. According to some, it takes 3 months to form a new routine, and if you make it to 6 months, it’s likely to become a lifelong change. While reading an NBC news article by Julie Compton, I came across these tips for making a New Year’s Resolution, that I’d like to share.
1. Be realistic about your goal, and plan ahead by at least a week. Focus on the “how” and make identifiable changes. You should be able to easily record and track your progress. Avoid being too vague.
2. Replace the bad habit with a good one. We form habits based on how our brains respond to rewards. Have healthy rewards for good behaviors, even if it is only a small one, like a stick of gum. You can also have larger rewards for yourself to reinforce progress milestones.
3. Eliminate triggers, and change your environment. Notice times, places and things that tend to trigger the behaviors you want to change, and change those as well. A good plan realizes things you need to change beforehand, in order to give yourself the best chances for success.
4. Have social support, and avoid negative influences. Maybe find a friend who wants to make the same change and get them to do it with you. Practice ways of saying “no” to people who might lead you away from your goals. If it helps, you can make your resolution known so that others can offer accountability and support.
5. Be kind to yourself regarding slip-ups. We’re all human and prone to making mistakes, don’t let them derail you! Instead of casting blame on yourself or others, strengthen your resolve. Mistakes are a sign to try harder, or differently. Again, have a good plan to get back on track after slip-ups.
That’s all for now. New Year’s resolutions are a great way to make significant and positive changes in your life, but they take work! Spend the time to plan ahead, recognize and celebrate those milestones, and don’t give up on yourself.

Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
Group Meditation
Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:
- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
