Maintain Weight and Regulate Diabetes

Dietary Advice for the Wood Element

Sour foods are good for the function of the Liver and Gall-Bladder; wood element organs.  But remember, in moderation, as too much can injure these same organs.   Good sour foods are pickles, vinegar, sauerkraut, lemons, limes, zucchini, green beans, lentils, lettuce, green bell peppers, and peas.  

It’s also a good idea to avoid heavy foods, like dairy.  Winter was about stillness and nourishment.  Spring is about lightness and movement.  The key to harmonizing your body with the season is by letting your diet reflect these changes.  Meals should be light and full of greens. You can also add flavor to your food with seasonings.  Good spring herbs are pungent spices, like basil, fennel, marjoram, rosemary, caraway, dill, and bay leaf. 

Lastly, a good supplement for spring is Milk Thistle Tea.  It’s a great way to detoxify the Liver and helps the organ heal itself.  It’s also good for skin health and reduces cholesterol.  Not only that, but it supports weight-loss, and reduces insulin resistance in those with diabetes.  It can help with asthma, boosts immunity, is good for your bones, and some studies show it helps to fight cancer.  I recommend milk-thistle as a great supplement to use in your quest for better health this spring.

Tai Chi was originally developed for self-defense and has evolved into a graceful form of exercise. Today it is used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.
