“To Everything, there is a Season” – The Earth Element of Late Summer
We’ve mentioned before the 5 element approach to living in harmony with the nature of the seasons. Late summer is the very special “5th season”. It’s associated with the Earth element, which is seen as the central axis around which the other elements find their foundation. Other correspondences associated with “earth” are: the organs of the spleen and stomach, muscles, the mouth, the color yellow, the sound of singing, the flavor of sweetness, and the emotion or mind-state of pensiveness and overthinking.
As always, in seeking balance, moderation is essential. For example, mildly sweet foods, like sweet potatoes, are good for the spleen, stomach, and digestion. However, excessively sweet foods, like too much-refined sugar or fried greasy foods, will injure it. Listen to your body while you’re trying to strike the right balance for yourself.
There is also a fascinating link between the gut (earth – spleen, stomach), and mental health. A balanced earth element allows us to stay grounded in the pursuit of our goals. It allows us to feel able to offer support for ourselves and others. It helps us digest thoughts and experiences; to remain present and in the moment. It also supports healthy boundaries, concentration, and helps us to avoid overthinking. It’s a great idea to work on supporting these aspects at this time of year.
“…And a time for every purpose, under heaven.”

Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
Group Meditation
Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:
- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
