Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli, from the office of Elizabeth Martin.
Be Kind to Your Gut
Once again to remind you, Late-Summer is all about the Earth element. That is the Spleen/Stomach organs of digestion. At this time of year, we want to shore up our gut health, to promote better digestion and immunity during the cold months.
Probiotics are one of the best ways to keep your gut in good health. There are many different types out there, each with a different purpose. Being that we are coming into cold and flu season, I recommend a probiotic that helps support the immune system. Remember, benefits from supplements such as these take time, so don’t wait until you’re already getting sick before trying to boost your immunity. Being proactive taking the right probiotics, along with daily vitamin C and elderberry will go a long way towards preventing any sick days this fall and winter.
Also, if you do get sick, and have to do a course of antibiotics, you will definitely want to follow this by taking probiotics. Antibiotics severely damage the micro-organisms in your gut. You will need to replenish them with a quality probiotic.
Further ways you can benefit your digestion are by taking daily Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), digestive enzymes, and fermented foods. One popular fermented food to consider is Kombucha. Kombucha is a fermented sweet tea that comes in many flavors. It is carbonated and has an almost beer-like aroma. Fermented foods are very favorable to the beneficial microorganisms in your gut.
In terms of diet, choose seasonal, mildly sweet foods. Limit your sugar and fried greasy foods. Warm foods that are easy to digest are best. Cold foods tend to injure digestion. The key plan at this time of year is to strengthen digestion and boost your immunity. However, you decide to do this for yourself, be sure to stick with it to see the benefits over time.

Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
Group Meditation
Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:
- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
