Getting Out, Into Nature

Sun, Aug 04, 2019

Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli, from the office of Elizabeth Martin.

Getting Out, Into Nature

TCM is a medicine that is largely influenced by Daoism.  Daoism is a philosophy/religion that bases its principles on the study of nature and its patterns.  Following these principles aligns one with the natural flow of life. The best way to know nature’s patterns is to experience them directly; and absorb the Qi, or life-force, abundant in heaven and earth.

Human beings are not separate from nature, we are part of nature.  We are a result of our environment, but able to effect change on our environment as well.

Imagine walking a trail through the woods.  It’s summer, you are surrounded by lush, green vegetation.  You hear birds chirping, and insects buzz all around. You are breathing.  That air, mostly carbon dioxide, will be used by the plants. With sunlight, they will use it to grow and bear fruit.  We eat plants, insects eat the plants, birds eat the insects. The plants give off oxygen. We breathe oxygen. Do you see?  Without nature, we could not exist. Because we are part of it. We are it, and it is us.

Taking time out in nature is good for your health; physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  Just a few minutes each day will do. If you have time for more, all the better. Soak up that good Qi, and give yourselves a little break.

Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
Group Meditation

Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:

  • reducing stress and anxiety
  • improves circulation
  • deepens relaxation
  • increases mental & emotional clarity.
  • restores balance

Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.

Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
