Home Remedies for Transitioning Into Fall
The time of transition between summer and fall is an important one for health. In summer we do more, and sweat more; this depletes us of many important nutrients. Nutrients we will need in order to have energy and fight illness in the upcoming fall and winter. We also need to cool down our bodies so as to ease the transition into these cooler months. The new, Fall Issue of Acupuncture Today offers a few home remedies that do these things specifically.
Cucumber water offers hydration, nutrition, and cools the body. Wash and slice one organic cucumber, and let it soak in one quart of cool water overnight. This will stay fresh for about 2 days. It’s good for dehydration, red eyes, and sleep problems due to feeling too warm.
Goji water is sweet and balancing. It benefits the liver and kidneys. It brightens the eyes and helps recover many nutrients lost through sweat. It is good for chronic dry skin, night sweats, and chronic fatigue. It also helps heat-related insomnia. To make it, add 2 tablespoons of goji berries to 2 cups boiling water. Let it sit overnight, then drink it. Also, eat the berries.
Lastly is Mung Bean tea. It cools the blood and benefits the stomach. It also helps to clear toxicity. Put 2 tablespoons of dry mung beans into 1 cup of boiling water, and let sit overnight. Drink this in the morning, then put the same beans into another cup of boiling water and let sit for 4 hours. Drink this again, and repeat this last step. When drinking the third and final time, eat the now soft beans as well.
All of these foods and remedies are very gentle in action and can be taken concurrently. They are best done while some heat from summer still lingers. Once things cool down a bit, you’ll want to change up your strategy. We’ll talk more about that win the weeks to come.

Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
Group Meditation
Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:
- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
