Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli.
November is National Sleep Comfort Month
It makes sense, that with shorter and colder days, we’d want to spend more time in our nice, warm beds. But what do you do if you can’t sleep, and have trouble getting enough rest at night? Insomnia takes many forms. Some people can’t fall asleep, others fall asleep, but wake throughout the night. Still others sleep through the night, but wake feeling tired and groggy the whole next day. For mild cases of insomnia, here are a few home remedies you can try.Â
- Regular exercise especially yoga, and meditation, can be very relaxing, and help you sleep well at night.Â
- Chamomile tea
- Relaxation exercises
- Avoiding caffeine before bedtime might be enough for a mild case. Â Â
Did you know…Â
A course of acupuncture treatments, over several weeks, has been proven to be very effective at treating insomnia?
There are also some very gentle herbal formulas that can be used to boost your treatments, and help you find those zzz’s. Some people suffer from insomnia that’s so severe, (whether from sleep apnea, or some other cause), that they need to see a doctor. However, if you’ve tried other interventions, and haven’t had success, or are looking for a treatment that could prove very effective, with little to no side-effects, I strongly recommend you try acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. You just might be amazed!
