Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli.
The seasons continue their cyclical flow. We now find ourselves in winter, where the predominant element is Water. It flows downward, always to the lowest point; so it is very passive. Water when cold makes ice, making it firm also. It is an essential element to nearly all forms of life with which we are familiar. these tips will apply to all who are going through the winter months. Pay particular attention if you’ve even taken our “What Element are You?” quiz, and found out you are a water type.
The season of winter has the properties associated with the water element. It is “yin” in nature. In fact, it is the most “yin” time of year. Illnesses of the “water” organs, bladder and kidneys, and their functions, are predominant. For example, Knee and Back pain, hearing problems, vertigo, frequent urination, and bone disorders.
When we say “your predominant type is Water,” we mean that according to your nature, you may be more likely to develop health problems associated with the Water element. Especially kidney and bladder issues.
Following these same principles, we can offer you health tips, based on balancing the water element, that can help ward off illness during this season. Or, based on your predominant water type nature. In the next few weeks, we will focus on acupressure points for self-massage, exercises, and dietary advice, that all work to strengthen and balance the “Water” element in you.
