Ginger, Mint, Honey Tea (from TCMWorld.org)
Many of us are used to drinking coffee throughout the day, but too much caffeine is not good for you. In many cases, it’s just the habit of drinking something warm and a little sweet. Here is a simple substitution that you can make later in the day, that will actually nourish and supplement your energy, instead of tapping into your already depleted reserves. It’s very simple, with only three ingredients.
Ingredients
1 tsp. Peppermint Leaf
4 slices fresh ginger
1 tsp honey
Directions
1. Add fresh ginger slices to 4 cups of water.
2. Boil and let simmer for 10 minutes.
3. Add peppermint leaf and steep for 5 minutes.
4. Add honey, and drink at any time of day.
Ginger is a warming herb, it supports and warms stomach function. By so doing, it regulates digestion and reduces nausea. It also improves circulation and raises energy slightly. For women, it can also help ease menstrual pain.
Peppermint is cooling. It balances the warmth of ginger and benefits the throat, making it good for sore throat and inflammation. It also kills bacteria and viruses, while improving energy circulation and liver function. It’s very good for stomach aches and headaches.
Honey clears toxins and pathogenic heat and dryness. It relieves pain, nourishes and moisturizes lungs, and helps settle the stomach.
These are commonly used, and very gentle herbs that are worth always having on hand. Great to take at the first sign of illness or even earlier as a preventive measure.
