Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli.
Addiction comes in many forms, yet at its core, can be considered any behavior that was at one time voluntary, but has now become compulsive. Not all addictions are bad for your health, and not all negative behaviors are addictions. But when we talk about getting treatment for addiction, we’re usually talking about getting help towards stopping a behavior that is negatively impacting your life, and your health. Quitting such behaviors can be difficult, stressful, and may even include dangerous symptoms of withdrawal.
Therapy can be an effective way of managing addiction. Some doctors also offer medications that may help lessen withdrawal symptoms. There are many methods you can choose from to help with addiction, and acupuncture is one of them. People report that after Acupuncture treatments, they feel calmer and more relaxed. This can help ease the nerves of someone trying to quit an addiction. A simple treatment consists of needling a few points on the person’s ear. It’s a very simple procedure but needs to be done regularly to have any chance at succeeding. It’s worth noting, that with any addiction, the most important factor is that the person keeps trying. It’s not always easy, but you never know when you might find that one thing that works and gets you where you want to be.
