Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli, from the office of Elizabeth Martin.
Acupressure for Kids
By now you have some idea of how acupuncture can help you relax, and that we feel more ourselves when our bodies have time to rest and repair. But did you know that you can bring these same benefits of treatment to your kids? We usually don’t do acupuncture with needles on kids under a certain age, but they are great candidates for acupressure massage. It’s very safe, and the great part is, once you learn which points to massage from your acupuncturist, you can perform booster treatments right at home.
Acupressure for children can help with conditions such as digestion, sleeplessness, restlessness, even fevers and acute illness. Overall it can help them feel more grounded and relaxed. You can look up some points online, but a licensed acupuncturist will be able to give you a more accurate diagnosis, and more specific points to use.
For more serious illnesses, there are practices like NAET. NAET, used with acupressure, can help strengthen the immune system, and reduce allergies and sensitivities that may be causing a child to have illness. Whatever your child’s issue may be, it is worth trying acupressure as a safe and gentle remedy.
