Holistic Advice In Avoiding COVID 19
The main signs of COVID 19, or as some call it, the “coronavirus”, (which is misleading, because there’s more than one Coronavirus, just like there’s more than one flu); are fever, cough, and shortness of breath that lasts up to 14 days. If you start to feel sick, stay home. If you have these symptoms, see a doctor. If however, you are not sick and would like to give yourself the best chance to stay that way, there are some things you can do.
Virus protection 101: get plenty of sleep, eat “real” (non-processed) food at regular intervals, drink water and tea, take care of your gut-biome* (source of much of your immune system), supplement with multivitamins, Vitamin D, Magnesium, and lots of Vitamin C, have ways to manage stress (acupuncture, meditation, taichi, massage, laughter, prayer), care for your air (air filter or diffuse essential oils…Thieves!), and last but not least, frequently wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds. (Hand sanitizer is good in a pinch, but washing is better.)
Those are the basics, but if you feel you might have been exposed to airborne pathogens, here are some specific steps you can take towards boosting your immunity. Supplements worth having one or two on hand are: Astragalus, Echinacea, Elderberry, or Lomatium. Wild mushrooms are helpful, as is fresh garlic. Oregano and/or Turmeric can be made into potent infection-fighting teas. Fermented foods and probiotics go a long way towards keeping your gut biome healthy, where approximately 80% of your immune system is found. At Hands-On, we carry an excellent supplement called AG Immune. It contains Astragalus and Maitake mushroom. Whichever supplement you chose, take as directed normally, but if you think you’re just starting to get something, you can take twice as often.
Following the above information will help strengthen your immune system, and reduce your chances of falling ill. While there is no cure for Covid-19, your chances of recovery are about 97% (from the latest data). Still, there is understandably a lot of worry and fear about this virus. It’s worth mentioning that in China, where this outbreak is believed to have started, they have found success treating symptoms, and reducing it’s spread with acupuncture and Chinese medicine. (Some of the herbs mentioned above are frequently used in TCM). This is also not the first outbreak of disease in history, and coming from one of the world’s oldest cultures, it seems they actually know how to handle things quite well. Whichever options you go with, we hope you and your families stay happy and healthy through this difficult time.

Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:
- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
