Meditations to Retrain Your Brain – Parenting
As mentioned before, there are many general benefits to regular meditation. However, these can be made even more specific, depending on your goals. Here is a practice that encourages one to become a better parent, in whatever ways that means to you. It’s borrowed from the book, The Meditation Bible, by Madonna Gauding.
Best Parent – “Parenting is the most difficult and important job on the planet. Try this meditation to help you visualize how to be a better parent.”
This meditation needs about a half-hour. Practice it once a week, doing the regular, 10-minute breathing meditation on other days. Before you begin, prepare an “offering;” fruit, flowers, a candle, or incense.
- Sit on your cushion or chair. Offer whatever gift you’ve chosen to your higher power. This helps establish a mental connection. If you don’t have a gift or don’t believe in a higher power, make a mental offering to your best self.
- Bring to mind qualities you’d like to have as a parent. For example: being emotionally available, being supportive and nonjudgmental, or being able to play with them. Maybe to set good boundaries, to know when to protect and when to let them explore. Visualize yourself having these skills.
- Ask your higher power or self to help you be the parent you wish to be. Imagine that higher power accepting this, and offering support and encouragement.
- Sit quietly the rest of the time, enjoying the nourishing peace and calm.
It’s not easy for a busy parent to have even a half-hour t themselves, but investing this time will bring strength and wisdom to your parenting. You’ll be surprised to see the benefits that come just from really just taking time to sit and think about your parenting. Remember, changes take time and consistent effort. I hope this gives you an example of what is possible through focused meditation. You should explore the possibilities!

Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
Group Meditation
Sound healing is a form of meditation that is performed in a group where you lay on a yoga mat and let the sound transport you.
Sound healing has many benefits including:
- reducing stress and anxiety
- improves circulation
- deepens relaxation
- increases mental & emotional clarity.
- restores balance
Vibrational sound healing can be traced back from present-day trends to many ancient civilizations including India, Africa, Europe, and the Orient. The idea is to restore balance to the chakra system and clearing the blocked energy within ourselves. Sound healing is similar to reiki healing; It is a form of energy healing that allows your body to self-regulate and self heal.
Let the sounds vibrate through you to feel the power of self-preservation and healing.
