Enjoy our weekly wellness tip from Licensed Acupuncturist, Michael Savalli. From the office of Elizabeth Martin.

May 2018 Email Tip ¼ – Acupuncture for Allergy Season

Spring is (finally) here, and with it, the pollen from grasses, trees, and weeds, that causes seasonal allergies for many, many people.  These outdoor allergies can effectively be treated by over the counter medications, however, for some, the side-effects of these make them undesirable.  Acupuncture can provide fast, symptomatic relief, without the negative side-effects.

Allergies are often triggered by the above-mentioned allergens.  But our response to them can be further impaired by excess stress, poor diet, overexertion, and exposure to other pollutants.  Acupuncture can strengthen your defense against these toxins, and help speed up your bodies resilience, in responding to these triggers.  Your own immune system, when working properly, is your best defense against allergens.  Taking care of your health with proper diet, exercise, and rest; and supporting your body with acupuncture, can help greatly reduce your susceptibility to spring allergies.

Some further tips for allergies are:  use a Neti pot to flush out your sinuses.  Eat more Omega-3s and spicy foods.  If your allergies are very severe, consider wearing a dust mask when working outside.  Remember, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound in cure.”  Knowing your triggers, and taking steps to boost your resistance to them is your best bet.

If you are interested in Acupuncture for allergies, we practice a special technique we learned in California that treats specific allergies whether it be seasonal, food-related or chemical related. If you have allergies and are interested in coming into the office, check out this technique: www.NAET.com I suffered from pollen and dust allergies, After a good house cleaning in the spring season I would be left debilitated with sneezing, and runny nose for 2 days after. After getting this technique I’m able to function in the spring season and after cleaning! I hope you take advantage of taking care of your allergies this season!
