Food that Stabilizes Blood Sugar

Salty foods are good for the bladder and kidneys; the water element organs.  But remember, in moderation, as too much salt can injure these organs.  Good “water” foods are miso soup, aduki beans, black beans, water chestnut, blueberries, blackberries, eggplant, wild rice, and purple potatoes.  Also, water-types will definitely want to avoid cheese.

 A particularly good “salty” food, is nettle.  It balances Kidney adrenal function, drains excess water as a diuretic, and helps stabilize blood sugar.  It promotes healthy bones, teeth, and hair.  Also, it increases energy levels, and eases muscle spasms.  Lastly, it helps women improve their iron levels, and is safe during pregnancy.  There are many health benefits from nettle.  (It’s also good for detoxing, seasonal allergies, prostate health….the list goes on!)The simplest way to have Nettle, is as a warm infusion.

Nettle Tea      

  • 28 grams of dries leaves, in 4 cups  of boiling water. 
  • Let it soak 4 hours, then press or strain out the particulates. 

It’s flavor can be spiced-up with either lemongrass, peppermint, or ginger.  Drinking this daily (hot or cold), will provide many benefits, and a nice, natural boost to your energy levels.
